We are Georgia DUI and VGCSA Defense Specialists
Being arrested for Driving Under the Influence (DUI) or Violation of the Georgia Controlled Substances Act (VGCSA) can be a stressful and humiliating experience. In addition to the indignity of being handcuffed, photographed, finger printed, and strip searched, a DUI or VGCSA charge can result in jail time, fines, community service, court ordered substance abuse treatment, suspension of your drivers' license, and increased auto insurance premiums. We limit our practice exclusively to defending people accused of DUI and VGCSA throughout North Georgia. By specializing in DUI and VGCSA defense, we are able to provide a level of experience and a depth of knowledge that general practice criminal defense attorneys simply can not provide. Our strategies work, and our results speak for themselves.
We Have The Training and Experience to Win Difficult Cases
DUI and drug cases are more complex than most criminal cases because of the State's reliance on scientific testing. In DUI cases, officers regularly use a series of Standardized Field Sobriety Tests to help them establish probable cause for arrest, and they use chemical testing of blood, breath, and urine to determine the level of alcohol or drugs in a person's body after arrest. Officers who make DUI arrests have specialized training and knowledge that allow them to qualify as expert witnesses on field sobriety testing and chemical testing in court. To successfully defend a DUI case, an attorney also needs to have specialized training and knowledge in SFSTs and chemical testing. Likewise, in VGCSA cases, officers frequently use chemical field testing kits to identify suspected contraband. If an arrest is made, the suspected contraband is sent to the GBI crime lab, where it is tested by a forensic toxicologist to formally identify and quantify the substance. If you have been arrested for DUI, do not trust your future to a general practice attorney who lacks the training and experience to provide the zealous defense that you deserve. Jeff Dickerson is a former Narcotics prosecutor with specialized training and experience in forensic chemical testing and Standardized Field Sobriety Testing. He is also a member of the DUI Defense Lawyer's Association, which is the premier national organization of attorneys dedicated to DUI defense. Jeff has been recognized as one of the Top 100 DUI defense attorneys by the National Trial Lawyers, and he has achieved a perfect 10 out of 10 rating on Avvo.com.
We Fight to Save Your Driver's License, Avoid Jail, and Avoid a Criminal Conviction
We have three goals for every case: (1) Preserve our client's freedom to legally drive, (2) ensure that our client does not return to jail, and (3) ensure that our client is not burdened with a DUI conviction that can have far reaching collateral consequences like increased auto insurance premiums, exclusion from certain employment opportunities, and restriction on international travel. While we can not guarantee any specific result, we are able to accomplish all three goals in many of our cases, and we are able to accomplish two of the three goals in over 95% of the cases we handle.
Free Consultation and Payment Plans Available
We offer a free consultation for all cases. During the initial consultation we will listen to you explain the details of your case. We will review any citations, police reports, or other case-related documents, and we will advise you of any potential defenses that may be applicable to your case.
We also offer payment plans with affordable monthly payments. We understand the financial toll an arrest can have on a family. The costs of posting bond, paying impound fees, and missing work as a result of an arrest can add up quickly. We will work with you to set up a payment plan that works with your monthly budget.
