Preston Haliburton is of counsel to The Dickerson Firm as the local attorney for the firm's Hiawassee office. Preston is a graduate of the University of Georgia, where he majored in Political Science, while simultaneously developing his boxing skills to a world-class level. Preston was a three time First Team All American boxer while at UGA, and he reached the finals of the 2000 National Collegiate Boxing Association, beating opponents from UC Berkley, Xavier University, the U.S. Naval Academy along the way. Preston was also active in the Lamda Chi fraternity while at UGA, where he was tapped to be a member of the Gridiron Society while still an undergrad.
Upon graduation from UGA, Preston attended Mercer University School of Law for his first year, and he transferred to Georgia State Law School for remaining two years so that he could continue his boxing training at an elite Metro Atlanta gym. While at Georgia State, Preston was elected by his classmates as a Student Body Senator, was named a student representative to the Search Committee for Law School Dean, and served as the Senior Managing Editor of The MALUM Law Review. Preston also began his career as a professional boxer while still in law school, ultimately retiring from the sport in 2012 with an undefeated record of 14-0.
Preston no longer boxes professionally, but he continues to utilize his fighting spirit to fight for clients accused of DUI and drug related crimes throughout the North Georgia mountains.
